One of the things I learned fairly early on in life is that a positive attitude is one major ingredient for success in a work at home business. I started working from home in 2009. At the time I was pregnant with our first son and let’s just say I was not ready for the ups and downs of being pregnant and growing a brand new business.
There were days when my attitude down-right sucked. There were days when I thought “what the hell am I doing?!” It was on those days that the bad stuff that happened seem to be insurmountable.
Then I discovered some articles on positive attitude. I began to listen to one of my now favorite Authors Dr. Wayne Dyer. One book in particular is freaking amazing.. it’s called Your Erroneous Zones: Step-by-Step Advice for Escaping the Trap of Negative Thinking and Taking Control of Your Life and you can get it on Amazon through this link.
I discovered our attitude about life is one of the most important factors for success. A bad attitude continues to bring about bad or negative results, while a good one can provide you with enough fuel to succeed beyond your dreams.
Even if you think you already have a solid positive mindset, you can still always benefit from strengthening your attitude and therefore increasing your chances for the success you deserve.
Follow these strategies for improving your attitude for success:
1. Find Your Inspiration
Discover what inspires you the most and use it to jumpstart your motivation to where you want to be. Feeling inspired enables you to maintain the drive necessary to achieve success. Any successful entrepreneur will tell you there will most certainly be ups and downs and it is how you handle the downs that will ensure your success.
Do anything you can within your power to find inspiration. Here are a couple of things can get give you a jumpstart to finding yours if you don’t already have it.
By the way two things to remember: First, if you are doing a business you hate, just because of a paycheck, then it will fail. But if you find passion in your business and it is a dream of yours you will find the fire.
Secondly, if you don’t feel like you’re on the right path, then consider that it may be time for a change. There could be a deeper reason why you’ve felt a lack of motivation. Reflect on what this reason might be, and then decide on how you can renew your drive. When you’re on the right journey, you’ll feel inspired!
2. Surround Yourself with Positive People
The famous author and motivational speaker Jim Rohn says “you’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with” and that is certainly true. When you’re around positive and inspiring people, you’re more likely to adopt those traits into your own personality and go for your goals with enthusiasm. Negative people, on the other hand, tend to make you negative also and drain your energy.
So take an evaluation of who you are hanging around with and ask yourself, are they inspiring me or expiring me? Also consider any podcasts, news, radio, and other media you take in during the day.
IF you must be around people that bring you down, then do your best to let their words bounce off of you. Trust with all of your heart and reassure yourself that they don’t speak the truth. Keep the peace as best as you can to get through these situations and then move on.
3. Take Chances
Believe it or not sometimes the best way to develop a positive attitude for success is to simply take a leap of faith and jump right in. Be bold and take initiative. Plunge forward towards your goals. People who take action find success, partially because action creates confidence and that confidence boosts mental attitude.
4. Maintain Your Focus
Your focus can also play a role in your attitude. When you stay driven toward success, it’s easier to have an optimistic attitude. If you have a lack of focus and don’t know where you’re going, it leads to being unmotivated and uncaring.
5. Give Yourself a Break
I’m going to be brutally honest with you. You are going to make mistakes from time to time. You are going to have some things not go your way. Give yourself a break! You’re only human! Stop judging yourself. Judgement negatively affects your self-confidence. If you work on more of a “go with the flow” attitude, you’ll find that you’re able to pick yourself back up and continue moving forward when you do make a mistake. In other words, remove yourself from the outcome. Tell yourself that you are totally fine no matter what happens.
The bottom line is this — the combination of inspiration, positive thoughts, and proper motivation can lead you to a healthy and positive attitude. Follow these strategies daily and you’ll notice a boost in your spirits!
